Research. Educate. Impact.

ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Omri Even-Tov, Associate Professor at UC Berkeley Haas School of Business

As a faculty member of the Accounting Group, I specialize in financial accounting, financial statement analysis, and the economic and legal impact of corporate disclosures. My research connects theory with practice and informs how we understand the role of disclosure in capital markets, public policy, and investor and corporation decision-making.

My research spans two core areas:

I’ve published in top-tier journals including Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, and The Accounting Review. Additionally, my research has informed policymaking and discussions by the Securities and Exchange Commission, the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services, the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and been featured in outlets like the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and Forbes.

Currently, I’m exploring how trading fees affect retail investor behavior and whether Artificial Intelligence tools can help individual investors make better decisions.

TEACHING

Classroom Experience & Mentorship

Teaching and mentoring students is one of the most meaningful aspects of my work. I’ve received the Earl F. Cheit Award for Excellence in Teaching twice and was named one of Poets & Quants’ “World’s Best 40 Business School Professors Under 40.” I enjoy developing innovative, hands-on curriculum, most notably by co-creating the Extreme Leadership course, where students hone their leadership skills through expeditions in the Andes and Patagonia.

IMPACT LEADERSHIP

Blending Research, Leadership & Real-World Impact

Since 2025, I’ve served as Faculty Director of the Center for Social Sector Leadership (CSSL) at Haas, where I lead programs to strengthen nonprofit and public sector leadership. I also helped launch the Impact CFO Fellowship, designed to train the next generation of financial leaders in the social sector.

JOURNEY

Beyond Academia

I worked at PwC in Mergers & Acquisitions, valuations, and due diligence, and as a fractional CFO for small and medium size businesses. On the creative side, I co-developed TV game show formats that aired internationally in countries such as Brazil, the U.K., and Turkey.

Whether through research, teaching, or community-building, I’m passionate about using accounting to drive real-world change.
