Impact Leadership

At Berkeley Haas, I’m committed to empowering the next generation of leaders to drive meaningful social change.

It all started in 2023, when together with then-Faculty Director Nora Silver, we co-founded the ImpactCFO program at the Center for Social Sector Leadership (CSSL). This grew out of the rising need for finance leaders in social impact organizations and our students’ growing interest in the field.

From there, since 2025, I’ve served as Faculty Director at CSSL, expanding collaboration with students, partners, and organizations. My goal is to create innovative programs and hands-on experiences that make a real difference. Every program, course, event, and initiative at CSSL is designed to inspire, equip, and support those ready to lead with purpose and impact.

PROGRAM FOR MBA STUDENTS

Why ImpactCFO?

ImpactCFO is more than a curriculum—it’s a community. Our students come from diverse backgrounds, from seasoned finance professionals seeking greater purpose to nonprofit leaders aiming to sharpen their financial expertise. Together, they develop the financial and analytical skills needed to lead mission-driven organizations forward, while learning to balance social impact with financial sustainability.

This initiative grew out of conversations with alumni who told us their organizations needed the kind of MBA talent Haas provides. We also noticed a trend—nonprofit organizations were actively recruiting our finance leaders. The ImpactCFO program was our answer to this growing demand for skilled finance leadership in social impact organizations.

What sets ImpactCFO apart is its blend of rigorous analytic courses, real-world projects, and deep industry engagement. Students benefit from hands-on internships, mentorship from leaders across sectors like healthcare, education, philanthropy, and impact investing, and a close-knit cohort experience. Workshops, speaker series, and networking events round out the program, ensuring every participant is prepared to lead with confidence and vision.

My north star is to build the leading network and live community for nonprofit finance professionals—a collaborative hub for knowledge, career growth, and connections that empower finance leaders to drive impact and innovation. As we grow, we’re committed to authentic, experiential learning and open exchange, making ImpactCFO the go-to destination for those ready to shape the future of finance in the social sector.

Center for Social Sector Leadership (CSSL)

Since 2024, I have been serving as Faculty Director of the Center for Social Sector Leadership at Berkeley Haas. We aim to prepare a new generation of cross-sector leaders with the practical skills to tackle complex global challenges and achieve positive social impact.

Our Mission

We empower students with the knowledge, skills, and mindsets to lead organizations and teams that drive positive societal impact. CSSL offers dynamic courses, hands-on programs, and real-world connections for students who want to question the status quo and improve the world.

CSSL’s commitment to experiential learning and cross-sector collaboration resonates deeply with my approach to leadership development. From consulting projects to board fellowships, every initiative is about equipping students to lead with purpose and passion.
